Red-hot Bees charge into Cup semi-final
BEESTON moved into the semi-finals of the England Hockey Cup for the third successive season with a controlled 2-0 win over Doncaster.
The Bees will now face fellow Premier Division side Brooklands in the last four on Sunday, March 21.
The other semi-final showdown sees Hampstead take on Sevenoaks.
Martin Jones put the Bees into the lead against Doncaster in the 12th minute following clever work by Stephen Lawrence.
Mark Wadsley smashed home the second in the 21st minute to see the Bees safely through to the next round.
Doncaster defended in numbers and Ashley Watson was outstanding in the Yorkshire goal.
Joe Morrison had Doncaster's only realistic chance in the 42nd minute but his shot was well saved by the Beeston goalkeeper, Tom Skinner.
In a double-header weekend, the Bees were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Exeter University in the National League Premier Division as they blew a two-goal lead.
Beeston shot into an early lead when Andrew Monte flicked home their first penalty corner in the eighth minute. Monte repeated the trick two minutes later to extend the lead.

The second half was even more difficult for the Bees as they gave away too much possession.

This task was too simple for a Beeston side lacking confidence and the students equalised with two minutes left when James Royce tipped in a right wing cross.
The point was enough to move Beeston back into fourth position in the England Hockey Premiership.
Beeston face another double-header this weekend.
On Saturday, they meet second-placed, Surbiton (noon) at Highfields Sports Club. On Sunday, they travel south to take on third-placed East Grinstead at Saint Hill (2pm).
