Red Bulls set to make renewed attempt to sign Rodgers, but Notts want to keep him
NEW York Red Bulls are continuing their pursuit of Notts County striker Luke Rodgers and look set to make a renewed attempt to sign him in January.
But Magpies boss Craig Short wants to keep the 28-year-old, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, at Meadow Lane.

The Red Bulls are managed by Hans Backe, who was infamously in charge of Notts for just nine games last season, and recently made the sensational signing of French World Cup-winner Thierry Henry.
They first launched a bid to sign Rodgers in March, but the move broke down when he was denied a visa because of his criminal record.
After an appeal, he has now been granted a visa which would allow him to play in America, and Backe has once again expressed his desire to sign him. The MLS transfer window reopens in January.
Rodgers will be allowed to talk to clubs in the new year, but he is under contract at Meadow Lane until the end of the season.
Short knew Rodgers had got a visa, and said: "I know he has done that and I understand it. Players need to plan for their future.
"The MLS is getting more and more attractive, as more and more big players go out there.
"He is under contract here for another year and I want to keep him.
"I've been very impressed with him. He trained so well in pre-season. It was unfortunate he got injured and had to have an operation.
"He's got four or five weeks to go with his rehab and then he will be back."

“Well said Ad. Most of these 'fans' just want Notts fans to rise to the bait, and its good to see that it hasn't had the desired effect. Think they should try getting out a little more.
It'll be a shame if Rodgers decides to move on, as i believe that Short was looking at him as a attacking right midfielder, cause he looked dangerous in that position a number of times last season.
