Rapist with sleeping fetish took pornographic photos of victims while they slept
TWO women say their lives have been left "shattered" by a rapist who took pornographic photos of them while they were unconscious.
Prosecutors said Robert Fryer spiked the women's drinks before taking photos of them in various sexual poses while they were in an unconscious state. And he raped one of them.
The court heard Fryer led a "Jekyll and Hyde life" and suffered with somnophilia – a condition in which he became aroused by interfering sexually with a sleeping person.
His actions came to light after he had boasted to a friend, Nottingham Crown Court heard.

Fryer committed the offences between December 31, 2008, and June 20, 2011, when a police investigation began following a tip-off.
Christopher Lowe, prosecuting, said: "An informer reported to the police to the effect that he (Fryer) had been talking about how on a number of occasions he had spiked the drinks of a number of girls... and having done that photographed them in various sexual poses while in an unconscious state.
"To start with the friend put that admission down as some sort of sick boast or joke, however, such was their concern they decided to report it to the police."
Mr Lowe said police seized Fryer's mobile phone and computer, where they discovered the images.
"There were hundreds of pornographic images of adult females in an apparent unconscious state, many of whom manipulated into various sexual poses," he said.
Among them were pictures of the two women who had no recollection of them having been taken, Mr Lowe said.
Police also seized a bottle of lens cleaner from Fryer's home, but it was deemed the substance on its own could not have had the effect of rendering someone unconscious, Mr Lowe told the court.
Statements from the two victims were heard in court, in which they spelt out the impact of Fryer's actions on their lives.
The first victim said: "My entire life has been shattered into thousands of tiny pieces and my soul feels broken into. Every single minute of every single day is a struggle for me."
She added: "My trust of men now is nonexistent."
The second victim said the images had left her "feeling extremely vulnerable", adding: "I do not know the last time I slept without a care in the world."
Fryer, 30, of Bleasby Road, Thurgarton, pleaded guilty to three charges of rape and one charge of assault by penetration involving one of the victims. Fryer also admitted causing another woman to engage in sexually activity without consent, and a further charge of sexual assault.
Adrian Reynolds, in mitigation, said a psychiatric report found Fryer suffered with somnophilia.
Mr Reynolds said Fryer also denied the claim that he had drugged the victims.
He said: "He doesn't accept that he used anything to stupify anyone. He told doctors that the statement to a friend was an idle boast."
Mr Reynolds added that Fryer had been "leading a sort of Jekyll and Hyde life". He said: "On one hand he was a young man from a good family... but all the time there was this dark side to him which has caused him to be here today."
Of the psychiatric report, Mr Reynolds added: "It shows someone who recognises that he has had a problem. He's determined to come to terms with it and determined that nothing like this should ever happen again."
Fryer, who had no previous convictions, was re-arrested in June following a police investigation.
He pleaded guilty to the charges during a hearing at Nottingham Crown Court last month.
Judge Jonathan Teare jailed Fryer for eight years for the three charges of rape and one charge of assault by penetration following a sentencing hearing on Friday.
Fryer was also sentenced to three years for the other two charges, to be served concurrently.
He will also be on the Sex Offenders' Register for life and banned from working with children.
Judge Teare said: "You have never been in any sort of criminal trouble before, but having said that underlying your personality has been what almost amounts to an illness for some years."
He added: "I have to approach the sentence on the basis that you did administer either alcohol or drugs to both of these girls, and that you took complete advantage of their unconsciousness."
Fryer also pleaded not guilty to further charges of assault by penetration, two charges of sexual assault, and one charge of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.
The pleas were accepted by the court and the charges ordered to lie on file.
