A 17-YEAR-OLD from Radcliffe-on-Trent is aiming to raise almost £5,000 to teach English to schoolchildren in Thailand.

Frances Walker, 17, an A-level student at Bilborough College, will work with gap year charity Project Trust.

She said: "English is not a subject in which children are examined so I will be giving them a skill they don't always have the opportunity to learn."

Frances is also hoping to volunteer at a local hospital or an elephant orphanage.

On April 9, she is hosting a fund-raising night with live music and disco at Grange Hall to pay for the trip. Tickets at £5 from the hall or National Dry Cleaners in Radcliffe.
