A PUB in Hockley has been named one of the top ten most vegetarian-friendly pubs in the UK.

The Old Angel Inn in Stoney Street has been picked by animal rights group PETA because of its options such as meatless burgers and vegan Sunday roasts.

Danielle Von Suskil , assistant manager at the pub, said the wide selection of vegetarian and vegan food was thanks to Annie's Burger Shack, based in the pub.

She added: "I think our pub serves a niche market.

"You can get a good vegan burger and we have a nice music-based atmosphere."

Abi Izzard, of PETA, said: "Nottingham's taverns are taking heed – more and more people are recognising that the best way to avoid health problems and help animals and the environment is to go vegan."
