Protesters ignite debate as part of National Greyhound Awareness Week
DEMONSTRATORS dressed for a funeral carried a dog-sized coffin outside Nottingham Greyhound Stadium.
The members of Nottingham Animal Rights held the protest on Monday to mark National Greyhound Awareness Week.
Group member Holly Grundy said: "Everyone we speak to is shocked how cruel the racing industry is behind the scenes and we aim to show as many people as possible in the hope that they will boycott racing.
"We have been demonstrating regularly outside the stadium and support for our cause is gradually increasing as people learn about the cruelty behind racing."
Nottingham Greyhound Stadium said animals were not mistreated, the sport was regulated and the industry "spends over a third of its annual budget on welfare-related initiatives".
