ASHWELL Prince could become the 600th man to play first-class cricket for Nottinghamshire when Mick Newell's side face Sussex at Hove.

Prince could be joined in the starting line-up by Alex Hales, who has been included in a 13-man squad for the game.

Darren Pattinson and Charlie Shreck are expected to spearhead the bowling attack with Paul Franks, Mark Ealham and Andre Adams also vying for a place.

"Sussex have a few injury problems but they'll be looking at us knowing we've lost a few players to the England squad," said Newell.

"We need to make a decision on the balance of the team but if we go with six batsmen then Alex will definitely come into the side.

"He has developed nicely this season and has hit big scores for the Second Eleven, which has helped him to make a case for a place."

Mark Wagh has recovered from the shoulder injury that cut short his innings in last week's NatWest Pro40 game against Durham.

Nottinghamshire: Jefferson, Shafayat, Wood, Wagh, Prince, Hales, Read, Franks, Ealham, Adams, Shreck, Pattinson, Ferley
