“Please note Ted_Notts - he did technically visit 'another' alternatively funded academic institution -he visited West Notts College on Tuesday afternoon and had a really good look at what the young motivated people of the shire are doing in Construction trades. HRH was actively interested how to get these young, hardworking people into work and apprenticeships, including women and the preservation of old crafts for the future! There are even school age kids studying at WNC that fall by the 'wayside' at state schools; so not all NBHS and privilege, he made time for the masses too. Thank you HRH for throwing a spotlight on our young super heroes of the future.”

“If it wasn't for the academic excellence of Nottingham High School for Boys, then Nottingham City's school results for 5 'good' GCSEs results would place them 151st out of 151 (ie, worst) in the league table of local authorities in England, rather than dizzyingly high, nose-bleed inducing position is currently has, that of being a magnificent 146th out of 151 local authorities in the same exam table.
The City's position in the league tables for A-Levels is similarly enhanced by the magnificent contribution from NHS boys.”

“You don;t think the vast majority of people in Nottingham should be proud of the fact that their city hosts a school that has been around for 500 years, and gets some of the best exam results in the country, Ted?
It may be privilege, but, unlike big houses, yachts and off-shore accounts, it is privilege that actually does something worthwhile.”

“Have the royal PR people no idea how bad this looks to the vast majority of people in Nottingham - the privileged all in it together? Why couldn't Andy have fitted in a tour of a city comp as well?”
