Nottingham's Light Night will brighten up the city centre in spectacular fashion as it's set for a return on Friday night.

Light Night will give you the opportunity to see the city sights transformed by beautiful light shows.

There will be a blend of entertainment, indoor and outdoors so don't worry if you can't bare the cold.

Forecasters are expecting it to stay dry, but make sure you wear your winter coat because it will become cold in the evening, with temperatures falling as low as 2 degrees C.

This year's highlight will be staged at Nottingham Castle where collaborators, Elemental Force, will project an animated performance using the Castle as a backdrop.

Unfortunately, all tickets are sold out but those of you who were lucky enough to get one should expect a spectacular outdoor show.

The crew will be projecting giant film animation, lighting, sound and visual effects to bring to life the stories of the regions history in a way never seen before.

The shows start at 6.30 and 8.30 lasting approximately 20 minutes. The Castle grounds will be open to the public until 10pm.

Here's a few of the activities happening throughout the city.

Stepping stones Castle Gate - 6pm until late FREE

Andy Mckeown brings back his whirling stepping stones projected onto water. You'll have to tip toe to get round this one.


English Combat, Robin Hood Statue and surrounding area - 6pm - 8pm FREE.

English Combat step onto the streets of Nottingham with their unique brand of fighting. Enjoy the medieval and Star War battles.


Tree of Light, Robin Hood Statue, Outside Nottingham Castle - 6pm - 10 pm FREE.

Seely Infant School bring to life a tree in the dead of winter.


Noughts and Crosses Robin Hood Statue - 6pm until late.

Play with light and this age old favorite game of chance.


Phantasmagoria: Shadows of Nottingham Life.

Museum of Nottingham Life, Brewhouse Yard, Castle Boulevard - 6pm - 9pm FREE.

A Nottingham Castle, Museum and Gallery event designed and delivered by Brewhouse Yard volunteers. A celebration of Nottingham's rich and diverse history presented in a unique and interactive way. A show with projections, light and shadows.


Kaleidoscopia GLASS, St. James Street - 6pm until late FREE.

Using images from the lighting shop on the corner of St. James Street and Maid Marian Way, Andy Mckeown projects an interactive kaleidoscope.


Resonation, Old Market Square -6 pm until late FREE.

The City Arts Dome will host the fantastic chime instruments for the public to come and create their own music.


The Daleks Return, outside the Theatre Royal - 6pm-10pm FREE.

Back by popular demand the Daleks want to be centre stage in Light Night. Your chance to see the exterminators!
