Pressure builds at top of Notts Premier League
THE heat is on Notts Premier League leaders Clifton Village when they travel to Clifton tomorrow.
They have lost their last two matches to blow the title race wide open – and it does not get any easier tomorrow as they face third-placed Caythorpe.
Caythorpe also lost last weekend as they failed to cash in on Clifton's jitters and the match will have huge significance as things hot up in the last third of the season.
Wollaton, who beat Clifton, will be looking to cause another upset when they play host to second-placed Papplewick, who lost at home to the in-form Mansfield Hosiery Mills last weekend.
Wollaton will again look to the likes of Scott Elstone, who hammered a century in their win over Wollaton, and skipper Paul McMahon who picked up four wickets.
Attenborough gave themselves some breathing space at the bottom of the table by beating Farnsfield last week but face a stiffer test when Cuckney visit this weekend.
Struggling Farnsfield face a difficult task at Hosiery Mills, who seem capable of beating all-comers at the moment, while bottom club Plumtree will also be asked all the questions when they visit Welbeck.
Defending champions West Indian Cavaliers seem to have started their traditional run at the top spot, having beaten Caythorpe last Saturday to close the points gap. They travel to out-of-sorts Kimberley this week and the home side will need to pull out all the stops to break their poor run of late.
