Police use Taser on crazed dog which attacked owner in her home
POLICE dog handlers had to use a Taser gun on a crazed dog which savaged its owner in her flat.
Kerry Eaton, 21, was bleeding badly after 12-stone rescue dog Diesel ripped into her leg and foot and dragged her around the floor.
-

Boyfriend Colin Chapman came running after hearing her screams and managed to pin down the dog by its collar, allowing the couple to retreat into the living room.
Kerry said the dog flipped when she accidentally slammed the living room door as she was about to leave the flat.
"He was going crazy. Something had triggered and he was going absolutely mad," she said.
Colin, 25, called the emergency services so Kerry could get treatment to 10 gashes. But with the dog – a Dogue de Bordeaux, or French mastiff – in the hallway there was no way for paramedics to get in or for the couple to get out.
Firefighters and police also attended the drama in St Mary's Way, Hucknall. It ended when police dog handlers used a control pole to get the animal from the first floor flat into a shed before using a Taser to stun him, which allowed the vet to put him down.
Police said the use of the Taser on the dog was "extremely unusual" but they had no other option to ensure everyone's safety.
Kerry, a partner in Animal Kingdom Pet Parlour, in Mansfield, said two-year-old Diesel had been "a really nice dog" in the five weeks since she brought him home.
"In his background he must have had some fighting or a bad upbringing," she said. "Before I even managed to get to the door he attacked me and ragged me round the floor.
"I was bleeding quite badly. He had gone through a pair of leather boots and ripped my jeans to pieces."
Kerry suffered seven deep cuts to her left leg and three to her right foot. She was taken to hospital for bandaging and a tetanus injection, but did not have stitches because animal wounds are often left unstitched for a few days to check on any infections.
She said the incident, on July 16, had made her more cautious of rescue dogs.
"People need to be sure if they are ever rescuing a dog," she said. "When you take a dog it might be friendly when you take it on – as he was.
"You have just got to be on your guard all the time.
"I would never recommend re-homing a dog any bigger than a shih tzu in a family with children."
Kerry also has a Labrador and a terrier but they were locked away when the incident happened.
A Notts Police spokesman said: "Officers from the dog section secured the animal in a shed while they waited for a vet to arrive to destroy it at the owner's request."
The Post has previously reported how Notts police officers trained to use Tasers now include road police and dog section officers.

“Regarding the article above in yesterdays Evening Post. Kerry Eaton nees to understand that many animals - particularly rescue animals who may have been cruelly treated in the past by previous owners - do not like doors being slammed or any other loud banging noises, shouting etc. I never slam doors near my animals - or at all in fact. This is why the dog 'flipped' as she so puts it. I know she says it was an accident the door slamming, but this is what upset the dog without a doubt. Perhaps its previous owners slammed the doors on purpose to upset it. Also she should not have 3 dogs and live in a flat - it is not suitable environment for them at all.
Animals don't attack for no reason. It was not the dogs fault - it was hers. Its no good pinning the blame on rescue dogs like she seems to be doing. More secure checks should be made before rehoming an animal to make sure the home is suitable by rescue charities.”

“I have nothing but praise for the girl. She was giving a negleted dog a second chance. It's the previous owner who should be getting the stick, mistreating an animal and then abandoning it.
There should be more like her and then so many dogs wouldn't be put down every day through no fault of there own.
God bless you”

“Yes Zak it is forbidden in the Old Testament but not in the present day Christian faith. It is a pity that an imposter, claiming to be Mr Sensible, introduced religion into this story but it shows the devious nature of some posters.”

“Hooplah, Notts
I am not forcing any belief on any person simply responding to a comment laid down previously.
I would be keen to encourage you Hooplah not to study the bible but a dictionary.”

“Why do people of what ever religious persauasion have to force their 5000 yr old beliefs on the rest of us? Do they realise how pathetic they are? I often wonder why such people hold dear what can only be described as the rantings of masoganists that scratched out an existance 5000 yrs ago!
PS. The dog should have been taken out on the garden and shot wit a very large gun!”

“A note to "Zak Brezinski"
Before you comment on Christians and their consumption on swine you may wish to refer yourself to Peter's vision in Acts chapter 10.”

“Guys,
To set the record straight for many people commenting on here in regards to this article.
I am the owner of diesel and at no single point was he ever along with my other dogs ever left cooped in my home all day. All of my dogs spend there time with my partner at work and when they are not there then they are free to run on open land close to where we live.
All our dogs are loved and cared for beyond what many would consider to be a high standard of care.
Diesel was given the best love, care and exercise a dog of his breed and size wud need, we loved him just as much as all if you pet owners love your own pets.
So please before commenting further find out the full story and facts regarding the matter before judging myself and my partner.
Jus to add or those who say it's wrong to keep dogs in flats, when my dogs are at home they have the full run of everywhere which may i add is far from small, not locked away in the kitchen it wherever other people imagine i keep my dogs.
I feel that unless people know the full story, the in's and out's of every single aspect to the incident cud they please refrain from commenting/judging myself and my partner on our abilities to love, care and provide for our pets.”

“@Bill Lawrenson
The Bible! Book of Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Isaiah and others.
"And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you¿.
¿Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch,
they are unclean to you.¿
¿And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud,
it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their
dead carcass.¿”
