Police search Lincolnshire canal for Bulwell man James Brodie

Detectives investigating the disappearance of Bulwell man James Brodie are to search a Lincolnshire canal.

Brodie, 19, is believed to have gone missing shortly after jeweller Marian Bates was shot dead during a robbery at the Time Centre, in Arnold, in September 2003.

Searches at Maize Farm, in East Heckington, Lincolnshire, last month resulted in a number of samples being sent off for further scientific tests.

Specialist divers will be searching the canal at East Heckington from today as the investigation continues.

Dean Betton, 32, of Raleigh Street, Radford, has been charged with James Brodie’s murder.

A 31-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, who were also arrested on suspicion of James Brodie’s murder, remain on bail, pending further enquiries.

The search is expected to continue for most of this week.
