Police hunt 'purple-stained' Carlton bank robbers
TWO armed men robbed a Carlton bank today - and police think they will have been stained purple in the process.
The men stole a cash box from a security guard at the Lloyds TSB in Carlton Hill at around 12.15pm today.
-

They threatened the guard with what is thought to have been an axe and fled to nearby Wheatley Drive, where they removed the money and discarded the cash box.
They then made off in a dark-coloured vehicle, which was later found by police in Cranthorne Drive.
Another vehicle is then thought to have taken the suspects away from Wheatley Drive, which is a cul-de-sac.
Opening the cash box will have caused a dark purple dye to activate, covering the cash, the offenders and their clothing.
The area outside the bank was very busy at the time of the robbery, and detectives are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the robbery, was in the area or who saw a vehicle quickly driving out of Wheatley Drive.
Anyone with any information can call Carlton CID on 101 ext 811 6635 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“do you remember the good ole days when armed robbery earned an automatic 12 year stretch ? i can see some asbo's coming with strong terms and conditions attached stating dont go near a certain branch during cash movements, DCI Hunt would turn in his grave if he was dead,”

“it should be quite simple to pick out a couple of blueberries on the cctv network,i would expect arrests by tomorrow morning at the latest, quietly wonders if they will get suspended sentence like the last armed robber did,”
