Police cold-caller warning
POLICE are urging residents to be vigilant after uninvited
tradesmen approached three homeowners offering to do building
-

£10 notes
works for large sums of money.
The traders have targeted properties that need repairs or
gardening work and have taken money before the work has either
been started or properly completed. Now the police are asking
elderly residents and their families and friends to be aware
and to call the police if they become suspicious.
Cold-calling tradesmen went to the home of an elderly man,
off Rugby Road, West Bridgford, last week and asked to carry
out work costing £2,500.
And two men with Irish accents went to a house in Nuthall at
around noon on the same day and suggested doing some tree
surgery.
After carrying out some pruning the men asked the resident
for £150 to buy some tools.
The man paid, but the traders did not return.
One of the men is white, in his early to mid-40s, 5ft 7in to
5ft 8in, of medium to stocky build and with short greying red
hair and sideburns.
The other man is white, 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in, in his early to
mid-20s, with short dark brown hair.
Anyone with information should call Notts Police on 0115 967
0999.

“I agree Derek, why anyone would shell out money to cold callers is beyond me. A fool and his money as they say...”
