Mr Boyle is deaf and due to the brutality of the attack the external fitting to his hearing aid was knocked out, leaving him even more vulnerable and disorientated during the ordeal.

Along with the broken eye socket, Mr Boyle, who is from Worksop, has swelling and bruising to his face, as well as a fractured jaw, which needs specialist hospital treatment.

Witnesses or anyone with any information about the identity of the attackers should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 747 of the 16 December 2012, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
