Perch's promise to Forest fans
NOTTINGHAM Forest skipper James Perch has promised the fans the players will win the battle against relegation.
The Reds slipped further into trouble after a humiliating 3-1 defeat against local rivals Derby County on Saturday. But Perch said they would do everything in their power to avoid a drop into League One.
He said: "Nobody wants to see us back there, nobody connected with Nottingham Forest and we have to battle now to make sure we don't.
"We have to roll our sleeves up and give everything now. I would say to the fans keep coming, we will keep giving 100% and we will get out of this mess we are in."
But Perch found it hard to accept being beaten on home soil by the Rams. "It is terrible for us, the fans and everyone connected with Nottingham Forest," he said.
"It is hard to swallow and coming from round here and getting beaten by our local rivals is terrible.
"After their opening goal we thought we put wave after wave together in attack and wanted to carry it on in the second half and maybe get something. But two minutes after half-time we conceded another goal. It was a bitter blow."

“Again another player spouting about 100% etc. If any of the players had given 100% on Saturday we wouldn't have lost 3 - 1. It was embarassing to say the least. My friend gave me interesting statistic yesterday. The average player will touch the ball for a total of 7 minutes during the 90 minutes of a game. The secret is how you use those other 83 minutes that win you the game!! Its what you do without the ball as well as with the ball. The whole team was guilty of poor movement off the ball, same as you do every week. I genuinely believe we are going to be relegated now and its time the players realised if they want to avoid it, they have to play every single game as if its a Cup Final.”

“Yes I actually feel sorry for Earnshaw at the moment. Playing for us must be like p155ing against the wind. Just seen his interview on forest world. No empty promises or nothing he just looks gutted and depressed.......and annoyed. He looks more devastated about that result than our own captain does. I dont want to see players down in the dumps after a result, but I can respect that far more than players who look and sound like they dont give a to55.”

“We dont need empty promises perchy,we dont need u giving away needless penalties.Stand up and be counted when u have to be thats all we want from u.The fans will back the manager & team 1000% if we see u giving the same on the pitch.Some hard games coming up so lets start by doing reading away & start to pull away from the relegation zone.We need u to put a winning run together now and reach 50 points & safety.”
