NOTTINGHAM Forest legend Stuart Pearce acknowledges that former Reds manager Brian Clough remains a big influence.

And while Clough is very much back in the public eye at the moment with the release of 'The Damned United', Pearce said he was unlikely to go and see the film.

"I spent eight years working for Brian, he was a strong character and you had to learn a great deal from him," he said.

"You only have to bump into people who knew him over his career to know that some part of him has rubbed off on all of us.

"You have to admire anyone who achieved the success he did.

"I have the experience of working for him and I might pass on one or two little things I learned from him onto these players.

"I didn't need to read the book or see the film, I worked with him for eight years. He was the biggest influence on my career."

“So what did everyone make of the documentary last night? On a personal note I thoughly enjoyed it . i thought Roy McFarland was showing a wee bit of jealousness and was a little bit bitter about Forest winng Europe etc, and was quite suprised to hear Johnny Giles call him a genious, overall though i thought it was a good programme”

“There is no way they could make a film about Cloughie's reign at Forest - it would be 20 hours long at least!!!!!! Just all the Wembley scenes would take hours of footage not to mention all the filming needed abroad for the various European campaigns. In fact it would cost more than 10 Bond movies to put together :)

Perhaps a series on TV - the Dierby bit would not be as long as a commercial break ;) and have to be made by the people that made Magic Roundabout ;)

Yes it was sad at the end and yes I do believe BC stayed too long, however I would not change a thing! It was the people that came after him that should have built on his legacy and didn't........

The greatest football Manager ....EVER! and he was Forest's :)”

Wess, I do hope you're right, and they do make a sequel, cos I can't wait for the end bit, where he takes you lot down to the Championship from the Premiership, I can picture it now, roll credits to the sound of Status Quo, playing Down Down.”

“This film is not the book. This film attempts to put the record straight about our hero. Major inaccuracies are just currency for the tiresome anoraks out there. End of the day, it's about CLOUGH. And if successful, there will be a sequel, about Clough's glory years at Forest. Now tell me you wouldn't go and see that. It would be great for Nottingham and Forest. Both would benefit massively if that film gets made. So pull your head back in and go and see it. Sheen is worth the entrance price alone.”

    “Excellent retort "Misty"
I see where your comming from "FRD444" but as has been said Its a fictional portrail of a very large figure In the football world! I have my views on most things but I will only give my opinion when I feel I can justify those opinions.
Now no matter what ex player's or ex tea ladies say regarding Cloughie, I'm sure we could all pick fault with It! I myself enjoy every-ones views on Ole Big-Ed but I am not so gullable as to think they are all right or even true. Wish he was still here there would have been a few law suits flying about I'll bet! U REDS!”

“WHY????? the point your missing is it is a work of Fiction the operative word here is "BASED" on Actual events, so it doesn't matter if there are 17 inaccuracies its FICTION get over it. How can you comment on something you've not seen? are you a Sheep? do you need other people to make your mind up for you? I bet you never went to see Life of Brian either coz some councils banned it and said it was blasphemous. It doesn't matter what some else thinks. in the country we have a freedom of choice.”

“No one needs to see this film. I heard Martin O'Neil's interview with Pat Murphy and there are 17 major inaccuracies to do with who played where and when etc.
It has upset the Clough family, particularly his wife Barbara.
Please, like Psycho, avoid the film.”
