HUNDREDS of people enjoyed the sound of Samba and colourful costumes in Nottingham city centre this afternoon.

Around 1,500 performers from 27 troupes danced their way from Friar Lane to The Forest recreation ground in the Caribbean Carnival parade.

Noyomee Johnson, 27, from Lenton was dancing with the Nottingham Carnival Club.

She said: "The music is fantastic and it's not very often you get the chance to get dressed up like this and walk down the street."

The parade joined the carnival on The Forest recreation ground, which has been visited by around 50,000 people over the weekend.
