Panthers' Jordan Fox wins Elite League Player of the Month award

NOTTINGHAM Panthers captain Jordan Fox has won the Elite League Player of the Month award for February.

The team's leading scorer last season, Fox has spent the majority of this term as a defenceman and has helped lead Panthers to the top of the Elite League table and a place in the Challenge Cup final.

The American-born 28-year-old scored three goals and contributed seven assists last month, including a 'wonder strike' against Sheffield Steelers in a 4-2 victory at the National Ice Centre.

Panthers won seven of their eight games in February, including a two-legged Challenge Cup semi-final victory over Belfast Giants.

Sheffield are back at the National Ice Centre on Saturday when Panthers will be looking to take another step towards a first Elite League title.

Match tickets for the main auditorium sold out days ago with the only remaining seats available in the hospitality boxes.

If Panthers win their next three games in regulation time, they will seal a first league title since reforming in 1980.

After Sheffield, Panthers travel to bottom-markers Hull on Sunday and then comes their crucial double-header against second-placed Belfast on Friday and Saturday, March 15-16.

They finish with a home and away double-header against Cardiff Devils.
