A MAN, who groomed a 15-year-old girl for sex, took an overdose before he was due to be sentenced and had to be rushed to hospital.

Trevor Quick, 42, of Dexter Avenue, Grantham, had admitted at an earlier hearing that he met a 15-year-old girl from Herefordshire and groomed her with intent to commit a sexual offence.

Quick was due to be sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court yesterday but when he became ill he admitted he had overdosed on antidepressants.

Judge Martin Picton said he wanted him back at court as soon as he was declared fit and was discharged from hospital.

He said: "I understand the suggestion is he has taken an overdose."
