MP Paddy Tipping has claimed £400 – the maximum allowance for food – almost every month for the past five years.

The claims were made throughout the year, including during parliament's two-month summer holiday.

Speaking to the Evening Post he said: "That was the amount prescribed in the rules and I do go to parliament during the recess, not every day or as regularly when parliament is sitting."

Other expenses included a £199.98 vacuum cleaner from Currys, £1,175 on external decoration and repairs at his flat in London as well as annual TV licences.

He also pays about £500 on mortgage interest payments on his flat in London.

However, the Sherwood MP's claim was the 504th lowest out of 648 MPs last year and he has published his expenses on his website.

“Another local MP found with his fingers in the "Public Till".
At the recent elections, Hucknall people sent all three Labour candidates to the Job Centre.
Paddy Tipping is advised to update his CV, as come the next General Election, he too will face the same fate!.
We in Hucknall, totally dislike those who use their immoral means, to abuse the hard pressed taxpayers!.
    Roll on the General Election!!....”

“so the food I can understand but not the rest . robbing clown .

even though i never liked his polotics Dennis Skinner , when he was an MP he never took any more than the going rate for a miner , which was his previous occupation . We need more MP's with the moral fibre of Dennis Skinner .”
