POLL: Has TV show Coppers changed your opinion of Notts Police?
THE final episode of the current series of controversial TV show Coppers will be shown on Channel 4 next Monday.
The documentary, which has focused on Nottinghamshire Police for seven of the eight episodes broadcast so far this year, has polarised opinion locally.
-

The final episode of the current series of Coppers concludes tonight on Channel 4.
Some – including Police Authority chairman Jon Collins - have criticised the force’s decision to allow filming, arguing that it has given a negative public impression of the work of its officers.
But others have argued that the documentary is sympathetic to the county’s officers, and shines a light on exactly what they have to deal with on a daily basis.
We would like to know what you think, by answering the poll on the right of the screen. (Update: This poll has now closed).

“Conversation...while you sleep...very safe and comfortably...and for the 'rest of your care-free day', the police are out there 'harrassing, provoking, insulting, and arresting as many young black people as possible! That spend most of their lives walking with their heads down, when most of them should be walking with their heads held high. Instead, crossing the road if they see police. Not through guilt, but to avoid provocation. That doesn't prevent harrassment either. Rosa parks made history..and yet...things haven't really changed much at all!”

“Ace1959...if the police werent there, certain classes and races would be able to 'walk the streets as freely as everyone else! And as for them being honest...'your faith and trust in them is naive to say the least! Hopefully your opinion is based on your own experiences, and you just don't care how they treat certain minority groups and classes. Check out thread' Three jailed for attacking police...and get enlightened on the reality, corruption, and prejudice that 'is underneath that uniform, of far too many of 'the great constabulary', judicial system, and the government. All part of their master plan to 'widen and cement' the 'great race and class divide!”

“What i think it shows is that the Police are used as the catch all for society, they are often treated as social workers, crime fighters, and a variety of other roles for which they're not trained as many of these individual groups are. Police are not jacks of all trades and from what we have clearly seen they have to be, dealing with everything from gun toting criminals to those with many disorders, mental issues, alcoholics, drunks, homeless, and often the dregs of society.
Police officers come from all walks of life and all have different skills and abilities based on their life skills, yet we still ask, and expect them to deal with many of societies issues for which many have to training.”

“I've watched all of the programmes and thought it showed that our police are just people like the rest of us. None of us is perfect and so I think it's unfair to expect the police to be any different.
I expect the police to be honest and that's what's come across on the programmes. They have a hard job to do, and have to make split second decisions, and some of them may not be right, but they are accountable for their wrong decisions, so I say give them a break and remember that if they were not there what would our streets be like.”

“I thought the Nottingham Coppers, featuring Police Dogs and Policemen was interesting and informative. The training of these dogs, the hard work and dedication of handlers, also, the close bond that forms between the two is amazing. The fact that whilst we sleep, these men and thier dogs are out there, protecting us, in the dark cold night, often facing dangerous situations, should be applauded and I for one, thank them.”

“i thought they were good programmes,it shows the police are only human.
how many of us would stand there and take that abuse week in,week out.
and her with the the short dark hair is one stone-cold ice maiden......"
.i agree badger, she has got attitude problems.
but in general, series 7 shows they are human like us,have feelings, when they were talking about jed walker, and then the officer swelling up talking about his dogs.”

“Apart from the incidents of pushing over the drunk man and the questionable language which is completely unprofessional the Series showed what a difficult job our Police have to do.
The pushing around of the man who would not let it go was unfortunately bullying in my opinion. This may have been a case of familiarity breeding contempt as he is well known in the homeless and drinking arena.
The foul language is I'm afraid symptomatic of today's Society but does not sit well even now from the mouths of those enforcing the Law. Especially when dealing with those whose control of the Tongue and actions fall far below what is considered the norm.”

“think they should of mentioned the poor dogs that were left to die in very high temperatures by 1 of the cops, and the one that was swearing was disgusting!”
