This is Nottingham

A DELI bar the size of a living room and a small interiors company in Nottingham will feature in next month's issue of Vogue – thanks to Sir Paul Smith.

The Nottingham-based fashion designer has chosen 11 of his favourite places in and around the city for the magazine's Secret Address Book.

They include Atomic Interiors in Plumptre Square, Lace Market, Number 8 Coffee Bar and Deli in Goosegate, Hockley, and The Walk, a newly opened tea shop in Bridlesmith Walk.

These smaller venues sit alongside more well-known places like World Service restaurant in Castlegate, Wollaton Hall and Broadway Cinema.

The Secret Address Book features 537 locations chosen by fashion insiders, including a full page of Sir Paul's choices in Nottingham.

Writing about the tiny Number 8 Coffee Bar, he said: "The best bacon sandwich in town is built here, using lean sweet-cured bacon and fresh bread.

"Local honey and biscuits are also on offer in this small deli's living-room-like premises, complete with bookcases and chandelier."

He also recommends Saint Bar in the Lace Market Hotel.

"Members' privileges and a well-mixed drinks list make this a destination for locals and visitors alike," he writes.

He calls The Bodega Social Club the "first rung on the rock'n'roll ladder of fame" and says that in Wollaton Park "you'll quickly forget you're only three miles from Nottingham city centre".

Sir Paul also notes his own links with the city, highlighting the Paul Smith Auditorium at Broadway Cinema and his flagship store at Willoughby House in Low Pavement.

"The house stands on top of Nottingham's famous caves," he writes

The supplement is in December's Vogue, out next week.
