Notts striker Hughes: No reason why we can't storm up the table
LEE Hughes is intent on firing Notts County up the League One table.
The 34-year-old striker, who was the Magpies' leading scorer last season with 33 goals, netted for the first time this campaign on his return from a groin injury in their 4-0 win against Yeovil Town at Meadow Lane. The victory has lifted Notts up to 12th in the table.

Lee Hughes celebrates his first goal of the season.
Notts were bottom after defeats to Huddersfield Town and Oldham Athletic in their opening two games of the season, but are now unbeaten in their last three league games, and Hughes said: "If we keep playing like that, we will soon shoot up the league.
"We had a bad start to the season and we weren't expecting it. After the first game our confidence just went. Hopefully, it's back now, and we can start winning a lot more games.
"A 4-0 win will really boost our confidence. We played really well, and I was glad to get my first goal."
Hughes completed the victory with the Magpies' fourth goal in the second half, seizing onto a pass from Ben Davies, who scored twice in the first half, and unleashing a left-footed volley into the top corner.
"It was a great ball by Ben. He flicked it over the defender and I just chested it down and volleyed it into the top corner. It was nice. I hit a few with my left now and again!" added Hughes.
Hughes suffered his injury in training just three days after losing to his former club Oldham, and was sidelined for four games.
"It was very frustrating, I hate being out injured. I just want to be on the pitch, trying to help the team," he said.
"I only trained twice before the (Yeovil) game, but felt good."
Notts celebrated 100 years at Meadow Lane against Yeovil, with more than 50 of the club's former players doing a lap of honour before the game.

“"our goals are SPECIAL goals! you know ones that are worked from the back, through the midfield, a precise through ball to Ernie & WHAM!"
What like that one you got against Reading, where the goalie kicked it at his defender, I suppose that was worked from the back, just the wrong one.
LMFAO

“You know I brighten up you days Nutts fans, as you wouldn't have had a single comment on here If I hadn't Interjected a large amount of quality Into your dreary forum!
And to all those signing In my name "SAD" Is what you are! still I'm happy that your happy with your teams performance, four goals Is four goals!
I do have to add how-ever that we are In a much better league than you guy's, (as we alway's are) & goals arent that easy to come by, this Is why our quality shines through! our goals are SPECIAL goals! you know ones that are worked from the back, through the midfield, a precise through ball to Ernie & WHAM! pick that one up goalie.
Yes we cant just lump It up to pint pot jailbird Hughes, then hope for the best!
This Is why we have (4) Internationals In our side & why you play each week whilst we have to send our player's all over the world!

“Munich Magpie you only attract mickydooflop because you keep taking the bait. Ignore him he might go away. No forget that last remark, we don't want him back on the Red pages. We get Mike Notts who is just as boring.
Congratulations on the Meadow Lane milestone and good luck to you this season.”

“I agree with you Maddog, people in glass houses etc. It's just that if you want MDF to keep on winding people up he'd serve his cause no end if he didn't come across as having the literacy skills of a nine year old. It subtracts from the impact massively.
As it happens I thought his post was funny as he was (unless I'm very much mistaken) having a dig at Forest fans for once.”

“Maddog, the fact is that the general standard of English on these sites is poor (to put it mildly). I cringe when I see phrases like 'could of been' instead of 'could have been'.
Having said that, Sean and Nige are not sad wind-up merchants with no life.
Micky is the one claiming to be knowledgeable and 'ellequent' (that one had me rolling on the floor yesterday) and can therefore expect to get some stick when he proves, as so often, that he is neither one nor the other.”

“Okay then, Munich and Fred. Let's have a word or two about the spelling of your buddies, Nige and sean (Sean).
Or shall we just leave it?
Like you lot will when normality returns.
Keep winding Micky D.F.”
