Notts stretch lead
Notts batted through the afternoon session without losing a wicket to pile on the misery for Sussex at Hove.
An unbroken stand of 170 between Mark Wagh and Matt Wood carried the visitors to 458-3 at tea, a lead of 119 runs.
Having stood on 359-3 at lunch Wood, soon reached his half-century.
But there was greater relief when Wagh reached three figures for the first time this season, having failed to convert fifties to hundreds on eight previous occasions.
Neither player was distracted by such landmarks and made steady progress as Sussex's frustration grew steadily.
They also ensured Notts took a maximum five batting points for moving past 400 inside the allotted 130 overs.
Wagh stood on 127 from 265 balls at tea, having struck nine fours and two maximums.
Wood, meanwhile, was closing in on a third century of the innings – which would be more than Notts have managed in the rest of their County Championship season put together.
He made his way to 89 from 168 deliveries with nine fours and one six.
With seven wickets in hand, Notts may now choose to push for quick runs and try to set up a declaration, leaving Sussex to face a few overs of tonight's final session.
