Notts seal man found innocent in Canada
A NOTTS man accused of getting too close to a seal cull in Canada has been found innocent.
Mark Glover of the Respect for Animals Group in Carlton and four other campaigners from the Humane Society International faced being fined $100,000 Canadian (£50,000) if convicted. They had been filming seal culling and were arrested in March 2006 for allegedly breaching an exclusion zone put in place by the Canadian authorities.
A judge on Friday ruled the defendants were innocent.
Defence lawyer Clayton Ruby said: "The evidence showed without a doubt that my clients were innocent and I thank Judge Decoste for seeing through the Crown's illogical arguments to the contrary."
