Notts officer in rape inquiry suspended

A POLICE community support officer arrested on suspicion of rape has been suspended from duty, the force has confirmed.

The 28-year-old man was taken into custody and questioned on Thursday, March 7.

He was also interviewed about an allegation of misconduct in a public office.

At the time of the arrest, police said the investigation related to offences alleged to have taken place several years ago.

They were reported to the force earlier this month.

A second police community support officer, who is 45, was arrested on Friday, March 8, and is also facing an accusation of misconduct in a public office. The force confirmed that he, too, has been suspended from duty.

Both men have been released on bail until July pending further inquiries.

The force has also referred the matter to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
