NOTTS County are in advanced talks about potential new investment in the club.

The Magpies' chairman John Armstrong-Holmes has been in negotiations with unnamed prospective investors since September.

And while the Evening Post understands there are some major issues still to be resolved, talks are said to be at a "critical" stage.

Armstrong-Holmes has always insisted he would welcome investment into the club, whose majority shareholder is currently the Supporters' Trust, since he took over as chairman.

Derby County Chairman Adam Pearson was linked with a £3.5m takeover at Meadow Lane in September 2007, although the club deny he ever made a formal offer.

And Nottingham businessman Colin Hancock also expressed an interest in investing money into the club just over a year ago.

The latest interest in the Magpies was first expressed five months ago.

Armstrong-Holmes said: "I am bound by a confidentiality agreement from saying too much but it is a fact that I have been speaking to possible investors and have been doing so for months.

"We received an expression of interest in September which I made known at the time to certain members of the football club board and other shareholders and the chairman of the Supporters' Trust board.

"There has since been ongoing dialogue."

“How embarrassing, no one can be bothered to comment on Notts on a day to day basis but mention money and all the bandwagon phoneys are on the case. No wonder the world laughs at us sad magpies.”

“Gareth.... "How can {we? }expect investment into the club with the trust and JAH at the helm?"
Without the Trust there would NOT be a Notts.County F.C. now.
Without JAH we would not be in the midst of negotiations to bring cash into the Club.
Finally.....what has it got to do with you and have you ever been to a Trust meeting ?”
