Somerset fought back against Notts in what play was possible during the afternoon session of their County Championship clash at Trent Bridge.

In between delays for rain and bad light, the visitors moved from 84-6 at lunch to 143-7, when an early tea was taken.

First Craig Kieswetter (39) and Peter Trego (17 not out) put on 46 for the sixth wicket with some patient battling.

And then, after Kieswetter had fallen to the second ball of a new spell by Andre Adams, edging behind to Chris Read, Trego and Alfonso Thomas took up the challenge.

Thomas (13 not out) was the more attacking, but both struggled to get away Mark Ealham, whose 10 overs went for just 17 runs.

Shortly after the players went off, the heavens opened again, leaving play unlikely to start again straight after tea.
