Notts boss Backe will not rush into making new signings
HANS Backe will wait until he has had a close look at every Notts County player before deciding if he needs to strengthen his squad.
And he plans to give a few players who have been out of the first-team frame a chance to impress him in the Magpies' FA Cup first round tie against Bradford City at Meadow Lane on Friday night.
Backe has been told he will have money to spend in the January transfer window to bolster the club's promotion assault in League Two.
But after only one game in charge, the 1-1 draw against Shrewsbury Town, he does not know yet if he will need to splash the cash.
He will have talks with the Magpies' director of football Sven-Goran Eriksson about it.
He said: "It's only been one game so I have to wait a little bit more.
"I don't know that much yet. Sven is responsible for transfers and I will have talks with him about that.
"I think now, at this time, it's about seeing the current players we have and what they can do.
"Probably against Bradford I will have a look at one, two or maybe three players who have been out of the team."
Backe knows how big the FA Cup is – and wants to progress into at least the third round and land one of the top teams in England.
He said he would love a tie against his and Eriksson's former club, Manchester City.
"I like the FA Cup. I'm not that naive to think we can win it but it would be interesting to still be in it in the New Year because then you can get one of the really big ones," he added.
"We'll see how good we can do in it. It's a lot about the draws and whether we play home or away.
"If you get home games, absolutely, we have a chance. To go some rounds into January would be nice, even though promotion is No.1.
"Manchester City would be excellent."

“All these sad Florist fans on here making stupid remarks about the Mighty Pies that are not surposed to be interested in us. Strange if I'm not bothered about any subject I wouldn't waste my time posting anything on it on any site. The fact is that you sad Florist Fans are green with envey with the investment that Notts now have. Sorry to upset you sad lot again but shortly the Mighty Pies will be lettting you know about our new training ground which will be at least, and possibily better that any other training ground in the country including the Man United's etc. Your living in the past fans will be on here then about the Mighty Pies building on green belt land or some other obscure reason. Like I and many other Notts fans and the Chairman have said you can't egnore us as we are the future which is BLACK and WHITE and you sad Florist fans better get used to it or you are going to be very unhappy for many, many years.”
