THE big guns go head-to-head in the Nottinghamshire Premier League tomorrow when leaders Clifton take on second-placed Papplewick.

Papplewick will have home advantage but with both sides naming strong teams, it should be a fascinating contest.

No first class County Championship matches are scheduled this weekend which means that all sides should have their county players available ,with the exception of Jason Brown, for Plumtree. He is still suffering from a calf injury sustained with Notts at Oxford University.

But it is at Papplewick where most the attention will be focused as the likes of Stuart Law and Phil DeFreitas will be looking to peg back the leaders in what should be a cracker.

Third-placed Caythorpe are hosts to Welbeck, who got the better of Wollaton last weekend and will be looking to upset the home side who have put together a string of good results to reach their current position.

Another good game is in prospect at Wollaton where the visitors are Cuckney who are also in great form and currently fourth in the table following their win against Mansfield Hosiery Mills last Saturday.

Wollaton will be anxious to regain their earlier form. They challenged for top spot early on but have slipped into the bottom half of the table recently.

Kimberley, also struggling with their form, gave a poor performance at Caythorpe last week and will want to bounce back at home to Attenborough, who are desperate to distance themselves from the bottom two places, currently occupied by Farnsfield and Plumtree.

Farnsfield are at home to reigning champions West Indian Cavaliers who were undone by a ninth-wicket stand at Papplewick when they appeared to be in a winning position last week.

Farnsfield gained their first win of the season against Plumtree last week, to push them into bottom spot.

Plumtree also have a tough task as they travel to Mansfield Hosiery Mills, always a difficult side to beat on their home ground. Plumtree will hope Matt Wood can continue his recent good form for Notts after returning from injury.
