Notts LTA awards night
NOTTINGHAMSHIRE Lawn Tennis Association celebrated a stunning year as they held their annual awards at Meadow Lane, home of Notts County Football Club.
County tennis chairman Christopher Walker and Mike Edwards, the longest-serving professional footballer at Notts County, were on hand to congratulate the winners.
Highlights of the night saw Luke Bambridge win 'Best International Individual Performance' following his outstanding year.
Under the captaincy of Greg Rusedski, Luke was part of the three-man team who won the Junior Davis Cup for Great Britain for the very first time.
Junior player Marcus Walters also picked up the award for the 'Best Individual Performance, Domestic' after winning the U14 Winter National Tour in 2011.
A merit award was also presented to Nottingham Tennis Centre for their services to Wheelchair Tennis by Mike Phillipson, committee member for the WTA and father of celebrated wheelchair tennis player David Phillipson.
Nottinghamshire LTA chairman Christopher Walker said: "It was a most enjoyable evening and a great opportunity to celebrate the success of our players and teams from across the county.
"2011 was a fantastic year for tennis in the region and hopefully 2012 will be even better."
Andy McFeeters, LTA Tennis development manager for Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, added: "There were some fantastic achievements in 2011 from our Nottinghamshire players internationally, nationally and within the county and the level of tennis is getting better and better."
