Notts County want to keep striker Chris Iwelumo permanently
NOTTS County want to sign Chris Iwelumo permanently in January.
The Scotland international striker, 34, has only played one game for the Magpies on loan from Watford.
But boss Keith Curle has already seen enough of the big front man and reckons he is just what his side needs as they chase promotion into the Championship this season.
Iwelumo turned down a staggering 15 other League One clubs to join Notts two weeks ago and is set to leave Vicarage Road in the new year, which will help pave the way for a permanent switch to Meadow Lane.

Curle has also identified other targets for the January window and told the Post: "If we are able to bring in the players we want hopefully he (Iwelumo) will be part of a frontline that I think will be very exciting for the latter stages of the season."
Iwelumo made his debut for the Magpies in their last league game against Swindon Town and set up Alan Judge to score the winner in a 1-0 victory at Meadow Lane.
He is set to make his second start for them against Yeovil Town at Huish Park tomorrow as Notts aim to extend their record unbeaten away run to 21 games.
"He's exactly what we need – that focal point in our frontline," added Curle.
"I thought he did exactly what it said on the tin against Swindon."
The only stumbling block could be wages, with Curle adding: "Finances dictate at the club, so we have to make sure we don't forego cost over value for any player.
"If it's cost effective we try to do it.
"I've identified more targets for January because we're not the finished article yet.
"We are a work in progress and I won't be happy until the last game of the season and we get promoted.
"To do that, we need to strive to improve."
