NOTTS County have not given up hope of landing a top striker in the next seven days.

The Magpies have been very quiet in the transfer market this month.

The only signing they have made is midfielder Andre Boucaud, who has agreed a permanent deal at Meadow Lane after impressing on loan from Luton.

Boss Keith Curle still wants to add more faces to his squad for the final push for promotion in League One. But he has to free up some cash before he can do that because he is already at the limit of his budget – and he has so far been frustrated in his attempts to offload a few players.

But he still hopes to complete a few last-minute deals, so it could be a busy week at the club before the window shuts next Thursday. A striker is his top priority because he only has leading scorer Yoann Arquin, Enoch Showunmi and Francois Zoko at his disposal.

The Magpies face Leyton Orient away in League One tomorrow and Curle said: "I've got a good list of names I'm going to give to the chief executive and find out if there is anything we can do. I've not ruled out bringing in permanent signings.

"I know I have got to wheel and deal and I might have to manoeuvre a few people out of the club to other teams before I can bring somebody in, but that's ongoing."

The likes of Hamza Bencherif and Gavin Mahon have hardly played for Notts this season – and Krystian Pearce has not figured at all.

"We're not trying to force anybody out of the door or make a decision that doesn't suit them. But there are players here who realise they aren't getting the game-time they need, so if there is an offer for them we will look at it certainly," added Curle.
