NOTTS County Council has approved its half a billion pound budget for the next year.

As part of the budget, council tax will be frozen for the fourth year in a row and an extra £16 million will be spent on adult social care and £3 million for children's social care.

However, the Labour opposition has been critical of the budget, pointing out there is a £132 million hole in the council finances over the next five years.

After an ten-hour discussion, the budget passed by 33 votes to 14, with 12 abstentions.
