Athletics: There was success for Notts AC's U11 girls, U17 men and both men and women's senior teams at the County Cross Country Championships.

Chris Warburton repeated his win last year by taking the men's race by just under a minute from team-mate Blayne Pick, at Markeaton Park in Derby.

Ben Norris was third with Mark Thompson not far behind in fourth, Peter Hodkinson (tenth) and Richard Darling (13th) completed the points scoring for the team.

Notts AC's B team, led by Chris McGurk, finished second followed by the C team in third.

The senior ladies team of Amy Whitehead (3rd), Nicki de la Salle (4th) and Joanna Finch (6th) won with Whitehead competing the 7,500m course in 28.43 minutes.

Twins Bella and Florence Reed finished third and fifth respectively to help the U11 girls to success. They were joined by Amy Keady who finished in seventh place.

There was also a fantastic team effort by the U17 men, the A team of Matthew Williams, Harry Foster and Paddy Clark winning the competition with the Notts AC B team in second place.

The C team just missed out on third place by one point to Nottingham High School.

The final round of the North Midlands Championships is at Wollaton Park on Saturday.
