“spot on micky47.
in september 2013, the teachers will have to make a choice. sign the new contract with the new terms and stay employed or don't sign and in effect hand their notice in. it's up to themselves if they want to keep their job.”

“Mickey 47
Are you really that foolish?
Don't strike . . . Get another job!
That must rank as the most stupid thing you've said yet!”

“Spot on Beckermint......
Such matters should be put to a proper process, with a vote with those directly affected, don't you think?”

"If it is such a good idea then why are Nottingham City Council the ONLY LA in the Country considering this change?
Madness."
Because they want to be different, like being the only City with the Parking Levy.”

“Micky47,
The City Council want to change the school year from the current 3 term system to a 5 term system. The teaching blocks will all be 8 weeks in length with 2 weeks holiday inbetween each block with a 4 week Summer holiday. A completely different system from Nottingham County Council and the rest of the Country.
Nobody wants this 5 term year apart from Nottingham City Council - parents, teachers and governors are all saying "NO" to the changes in term structure but Mr Mellen does not appear to be listening.
Young children will be exhausted during that 8th week as will the staff.
Parents will have their children off at different times of the year if they attend County and City Schools - not to mention the City academies who appear to be sticking to the origional County Council format anyway. How will parents find and pay for this extra child care? It will be chaos.
If it is such a good idea then why are Nottingham City Council the ONLY LA in the Country considering this change?
Madness.”

“Really, I need to look carefully to see it is not a list of closed schools???
The lines between each list and the bold titles are a little misleading I'll admit.”
