NOTTINGHAM is set for a share of £1.4m of Government funding to crack down on teenage binge drinking.
Children's Minister Ed Balls is today set to announce 69 youth crime priority areas which will also get the money.

It will help councils and police combat the problem through a mixture of education, enforcement and cooperation with business.
The new scheme will allow the confiscation of alcohol, the breaking up of groups of youths who are getting drunk and the signing of contracts promising good behaviour.
Work will also be done with families to address the underlying reasons for children's behaviour as well as informing the public what is being done to address the problem.
Mr Balls said: "We know that during the summer holidays more young people want to spend time outside with their friends.
"The majority of young people are law-abiding and make a positive contribution to their communities.
"However, when alcohol is a factor we know that some young people's behaviour can get out of control and this can lead to anti-social behaviour.
"Communities should not have to put up with this."

“I have a radical solution which is instead of capping police budgets year on year and then spreading this money so thinly its useless, just fund the police properly and let them get the resources to tackle all crime.”

“£1.4m divided between 70 areas,
It will not even pay for a social worker to talk to the kids.
Another sound-bite from a failed Government.”

“if this money was spent on youth clubs, that stay open 6pm to 10pm 7days a week involved in all types of activities.and all the money recieved by Councils they have had for selling playing fields and open park spaces, spent on our children I am sure there would be very little under age drinking just find the kids somthing to do and get interested in.”

“Find the suppler, find the adult who goes into the shop to get for the kids and then send them to jail for a very long time.
Sounds a bit harsh, but if you had seen what I have seen and heard what I have heard and gone to as many funerals due to alcohol abuse you would know why I say this.
I drank accessively for some 30 odd years and it very near killed me.
Ive been sober for almost 16 years and a member of AA for the same time, it works if you want it to.
Thats the answer not pots of money, but anything is worth a try.”
