Nottingham University take Division Two title
THE University of Nottingham, in their debut season in the Nazareth House League, clinched the Division Two title with a 6-2 victory over Pegasus Snooker Club B.
A superb away performance saw the University capture all four frames. Tom Laycock won his frame against Andy Orange with the help of a 31 break, while Dale Prime and Ben McIntosh beat Steve Booth and debutant Cary Davies respectively.
The Pegasus duo of Booth and Davies lost out in the pairs.
At the Sports Centre Pegasus lost the opening two frames with Kalpesh Mevada and Alex Smith defeating Jamie Sampson and Mike Langdon. Ken Michell pulled a frame back against Robin Hicks and Sampson and Michell then beat Smith and Mevada in the pairs.
Cotgrave Welfare cemented their place in the play-offs with a 5-3 victory over bottom club Lenton Liberal Club.
Beeston SH beat Stadium Leisure 5-3 to clinch runners-up spot in Division One.
Phoenix Cue Sports are not sure of a play-off place after they went down 1-7 to a strong Pegasus A.
But CI Super Elites made it 19 matches unbeaten with a 5-3 win against Arnold Civil Defence A. In-form Chris Winter had a 69 break.
