NOTTINGHAM'S best performance of the season saw them hammer a strong Rotherham side 46-0 to get back to the top of the Championship table.

Exeter and Bristol both have good chances to leapfrog the Green and Whites over the weekend. But this was another quality performance to underline their growing reputation.

They ran in seven tries, but the coaching staff will be equally pleased with the clean sheet. Together they meant the Meadow Lane crowd was treated to a thriller.

David Jackson ran in two early tries, with man of the match Luke Sherriff crossing just after the break.

Titans dominated the opening stages and only a couple of knock-ons denied them an early lead, while Jonathan West hit a penalty attempt just wide.

Against the run of play it was the Green and Whites who opened the scoring following a good break from Sherriff – outside half Tim Taylor wrong-footing the defence to touch down under the posts and Greg Tonks adding a simple conversion.

They had a golden opportunity to extend that lead from a close range line-out but knocked-on as they moved the ball in field.

Nottingham's mounting pressure paid off however, as Jackson's pace took him through for a try in the left-hand corner midway through the first half.

Tonks was off-target with his conversion attempt but slotted over a penalty to make it 15-0.

Two tries late in the first half secured the bonus point, Jackson pouncing on a clever through kick, followed by a touch-down in the corner from Ben Johnston.

And it was Johnston who created the try in the opening minutes of the second half as he broke down the right and timed his pass perfectly to give Sherriff a simple run in.

The second half saw Titans threaten more, but the Nottingham defence was far too good and restricted them to half chances.

Nottingham pushed further ahead when replacement scrum half Dan White side-stepped his way over for a try, with Tonks again on target with the conversion.

Calum Green wrapped up the scoring in injury time as the domnent pack drove him over, Taylor taking over the kicking to add the conversion with the last kick of a thoroughly entertaining game.
