Nottingham couple revealed as £7.7m National Lottery jackpot winners
THE identities of a Nottingham couple who have scooped a National Lottery jackpot have been revealed today.
Ivan and Susan Westbury, from Netherfield, both 64, won more than £7.7 million after getting all six numbers in Saturday's draw.
The couple run a local business Sentinel Lightning and didn't realise that they had become multi-millionaires until Mrs Westbury visited the Tesco store in Carlton Hill on Sunday morning to check her numbers.
Mr Westbury is a steeple jack of more than 30 years and has run Sentinel Lightening, based in Netherfield, for the last 19 years.
At the press conference at Bestwood Lodge Country Park Mr Westbury said: "I was back at work an hour after Susan told me on Sunday. It just felt normal to me as I have a passion about work and it's my own business. I've not had a day off for four years, buT I think I will have one off now."
Mr Westbury said he planned to continue running the company which employs 30 people.
Mrs Westbury bought the winning ticket at Morrisons in Victoria Park Way in Netherfield.
Speaking of the moment she found out she had the winning ticket, Mrs Westbury said: "I handed over my ticket to be scanned by the young lad behind the counter and I asked if the machine had broken.
"He then handed a pink slip of paper and said I had to call Camelot. I was in complete shock and couldn't make myself function properly. The young lad helped me call my husband and I sat in the car crying with shock."
The couple have three grown up children and seven grand children. They said they plan to use the money to help their family.
Their names were announced at a press conference at Bestwood Lodge Country Park this morning.

I personally think Ivan is the best bloke on this planet and I cannot tell you how much I respect the guy.
His wife is also a great lady and it is my pleasure to say I know her .
The whole family are just awe inspiring and the house is like a palace, not a speck of dust to be seen anywhere.
I dont think it could have happened to nicer people, and since I did me back in ,me missus left and I've ended up in a bedsit, all alone every night with a bottle of cider and no money...anyway , Ivan all the best....have you got any loose change for old times sake ?”
