Nottingham Forest stars back Post campaign to protect women
THE Post is today launching Notts' largest campaign against domestic violence with backing from every single council and major politicians across the county.
Following news that five domestic homicide reviews are being carried out in the county since last March, we are asking at least 10,000 men in the county to sign a pledge online to say they will not commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.

We are also calling on the Government to introduce Clare's law, to force police to reveal if a man has a violent history if women ask.
John Robinson, chief executive of Gedling Borough Council and the lead for domestic violence on the Safer Nottinghamshire Board, said: "This is the biggest campaign against domestic violence that we have seen in Nottinghamshire. It sets out to not only achieve a cultural change in attitude – but also to change the way we do things and set a national example to lead by."
If you're experiencing domestic violence and need help and support contact Nottingham's Women's Aid then call 0808 800 0340 or visit http://www.wais.org.uk

“I agree with Dave - why do we almost always assume only women get abused? Domestic abuse works both ways. I admit it is probably women who are abused more, but many men are abused too. They are less likely to come forward and tell people about it, because we have a silly attitude that these men must be wimps. My son was abused many times by his partner, and has the scars to prove it. He never assaulted her because he had been brought up to believe that men should never hit women. He could have hit her in self defence - to resist hitting back takes a lot of self control. Why can't we just have a group against all domestic violence?”

“That photo looks more like a police line-up than an advert against domestic abuse.”
