The striker and his partner, Jade Fair, set up the Luey Jacob Sharp Foundation last year after son Luey died aged two.

The charity works to raise money for research into the disease gastroschisis, which Luey died from.

It is still not known what causes the disease, which is usually picked up by week 14 of pregnancy.

“Charl - yes the 'post' should have got the details right but the main reason for the article is to raise awareness and hopefully improve research into this type of illness. i think the article did what it intended to do (but it did include an error-you are correct).
Lets stop these petty replies (and i include my replies in this category) and maybe all throw a £10 note into the Sharp foundation!!!”

“matt it was how you stated the mistake - full of compassion!!!!?? and no mention of anything regarding the actual article,if you want to be an editor go ahead mate, edit away - but i dont think many football fans reaction to this article would be to point out the mistake that you did!!!”

“Thank you CharlW - the voice of sanity and reason. Where was my "dig" at the journalist? And where was the implied insensitivity in merely pointing out the error? Surely it is more insensitive to get basic facts wrong in a story such as this? Sometimes it doesn't matter what you say on this site, someone will take it the wrong way.”

“I don't think MattS should be criticised for pointing out the journo error regarding Luey's age. Bearing in mind that this story is about the charity that's been set up in Luey's name, I think the Nottm Post should get the facts correct as a matter of respect to him and his mum and dad.”

Some people aren't happy unless they have a moan and a groan about something or someone.

My thoughts are also with the Shape family at this very sad time.”

“Is that really needed Matt?-how can you have a dig at a journo or a typo over such a sensitive story? RIP Luey and my thoughts go out to Billys family-well done for fund raising in the memory of your little man”
