BILLY Sharp believes Nottingham Forest should be finding their feet, now they are a third of the way into the Championship season.

With an entirely new look squad featuring more than a dozen new faces, it was always going to take time for Forest to gel.

But Sharp hopes they will start to produce their best on a regular basis, now they have had that time.

"We are a third of the way into the season and we should all be on the same page now," he said.

"But we feel like we are now. We all believe in what we are doing.

"If we can have a few different plans up our sleeves, we can get the results we need."

More specifically, Sharp says Forest must find a way to get the better of physical sides who stop the Reds from playing their best football. He said: "We have been trying to work on a plan B.

"Middlesbrough played really well at home on television, in the game before they came to play us here.

"Then they came here and did things slightly differently and were really well organised and well drilled in what they were doing.

"They were all on the same page.

"If we can get those kind of things right, we can turn those draws into wins."

Sharp is on loan from Premier League Southampton until the end of the season.

But he says he very much feels part of things at the City Ground.

"I do feel like a Forest player. Everyone from the chef here to the secretary have been brilliant, they have made me feel very welcome," he said.

“Excellent post Hoppers from a true fan who observes, understands and always accentuates the positives while offering constructive criticism. It has to start coming together soon so lets make it today. I'd like to see Lanbury get a fair run of it as he will provide the forwards a plenty. A Good Win for Forest today! YOU REDS!”

I to would like to see the strikers getting nearer together, I have said before that Cox playing wide limits us to a lone striker, we do need someone with pace down the flanks so Cox can go more centeral....”

“Deffo feel that Dex should be given more of a role, even if it's coming on as sub at the hour mark to give a "plan B" a good 30-35 mins to be tried. Don't think Sharp/ Cox have done anything wrong, but do agree with a previous poster that Dex's height gives the team something extra, plus his goal-scoring record is at least as good as the other 2. Also can't help feeling that away from home we should try 4-1-4-1, with Dex in front of and Gillett behind a midfield 4 of Lansbury, Cohen, Jenas and Reid.”

    “jhoppers & CraigNFFC:

Good posts. Nice and positive. Creative too.

    One tiny problem, Craig:

    "...top 4 by January"

I share your optimism 150%, my friend, but I'm going for 6th, with a realistic push from mid-January onwards.

In August I oredicted a finish of 3rd, with promotion through play-offs (aren't we due that?!!!). Automatic wouldn't be the end of the world though...”

“jhoppers - i agree, Cox is very good at winning the ball and bringing other players into play. I don't think he's got the rewards in terms of goals for all the effort he puts in.

TBH i think that the midfield have probably not been doing the front two justice by getting the ball to them how, where, and when they want it. I'm sure that as soon as our midfield gets better at getting forward and supporting the strikers then Cox, Sharp, and Dex will score loads more.

It'd be nice to have an early goal or two today....we've had too many matches where we've gone down one before pulling ourselves back into it.

I think today we'll get a good win and it'll be the start of a mini-run of wins.

    COYR.... top 4 by January”

“Whoever plays up top today I would like to see them playing closer together. All too often they get isolated with Cox popping up on the wing. Reidy and Cohen need to provide the width if that's who SOD goes with. At Leicester I felt we were far too narrow and far too deep. But then that's why SOD is the manager and along with everyone else on here I give my opinion. After all, what the hell do I know.

“Cox is a better player at holding the ball up. His first touch at times is world class and is capable of turning players better than dex too.
The one thing dex has over cox is height.
Really looking forward to today's game, even though I'm feeling like ****. If we can get an early goal, we will see Wednesdays head drop. A mate days there left back is awful, so lets get cox one on one with him a lot.......you reds!!!”

“Would like to see Dex partner Billy today. Think the Big man Little man combo can work. If Dexter can hold the ball up for us, we can play off him with a bit more pace and urgency; turning teams back four around more quickly asking more questions of them. Sometimes we don't move the ball fast enough for me - too predictable and easy to defend against. Hit Dex with a quick pass (not long hoof) and get runners moving off him. SOD move over- i want your job !!!!! (LOL)”
