Nottingham Forest: Reds owner Fawaz al Hasawi pledges not to interfere with Billy Davies
FAWAZ Al Hasawi says if he wanted to manage Nottingham Forest, he would have appointed himself – and pledged he would not interfere with Billy Davies.
The Reds owner and chairman insists that, had he wanted to have an influence on the management of the club, he would have been foolish to appoint a 'strong manager' in the form of Davies.
The tenures of both Sean O'Driscoll and Alex McLeish had both ended with suggestions the club's hierarchy had attempted to influence the club's policy on transfers and even team selection.
But Al Hasawi dismissed this totally – and believes the appointment of Davies is proof he does not intend to meddle in team affairs.

"This is not my way. If I wanted to be the man who made those decisions, I would be the manager," said Al Hasawi.
"Why would I appoint somebody to do that job if I wanted to be the manager myself?
"Why would I bring in Billy if I wanted to do that? Because he is certainly a man who does not like anyone to interfere with his business.
"Many people think that Fawaz Al Hasawi interferes with the manager and his business. But, if I liked to interfere, I would not bring Billy Davies to Nottingham.
"Because Billy is very strong, he is a tough manager and he does not like anyone to interfere with his job.
"That is a very good answer to those people who accuse Fawaz Al Hasawi of interfering with the manager. Sean O'Driscoll is here, you can ask him – I never interfered with his work.
"Also Alex McLeish, you can ask him. I did not interfere with him."
Al Hasawi believes such speculation is just part of football – and insists he loves being part of it.
"I know people are talking. But that is normal. That is football. You will always have people talking about you, people who have an agenda," he said.
"But that is football and I like it. I like being part of football. I will tell you, I never interfere with a manager. I was director of football in Kuwait for seven years (with Qadsia) and I did not interfere with the manager there, during all that time. I will not do so now."
Al Hasawi admits the popularity of Davies was a factor in his decision to bring him back for a second spell.
"Billy is a man who everyone likes in Nottingham, because he took us to the play-offs twice," said the owner.
"Everyone wanted Billy Davies to take control of Forest because of the record he has. He has a good CV with all the teams he has managed."
