PEOPLE living in Epperstone, Lowdham and Gunthorpe will have lost bus links reinstated from Monday.

These areas were previously served by Premiere Buses route 6, which stopped running last month when the company ceased trading.

However, Nottingham City Transport and Notts County Council have stepped in and the areas will be served from next Monday.

The recently introduced Sky Blue Line service 47 will be extended beyond Calverton to Epperstone, Lowdham and Gunthorpe, reinstating a Monday to Saturday daytime service to local health, shopping and library facilities.

David Astill, NCT Commercial Manager, said: “We were pleased to be able to step in at short notice last month to provide Mapperley Plains and the villages of Lambley and Woodborough with a direct bus service to Nottingham and have been delighted to welcome many new customers to the NCT network as a result.

“By working closely in partnership with the county council we have also devised a way of reinstating the lost link between these areas and Lowdham and Gunthorpe."

Richard Jackson, chairman of the Highways and Transport committee said: "The County Council’s transport and travel team worked hard to secure replacement for routes affected by Premiere’s ceasing trading and Nottingham City Transport were quick to respond.

“This is an excellent example of how two organisations have worked closely together to respond swiftly to local people’s needs in a practical way.”
