SHEFFIELD raider Roy Nichols smashed the lake record of 116lbs at Little John Lakes near Ollerton.

He caught 124-9 of carp to 5lb on pellet waggler to the island at Robin Hood 4.

Pete Hodgetts was second with 72-10, which included five hard-fighting barbel to 7lb.

Owner Steve Beard won another open on Robin Hood with 92-11 at peg 3. He caught carp to 5lb on meat to the island.

Teacher John Woodland has certainly gained top marks at Sherwood Forest Farm Park during the school holidays.

He won the last evening open of the year with 75-3 on pole, meat and worm. Two days later he won with 54-7 on hot peg Sherwood 40, taking 11 carp to 10lb on the same tactics.

And he then topped the 48-peg charity match with 46-8 after drawing fancied Sherwood 41. This time he fished pellet down the margin for eight carp to 5lb and 10lb of bream.

The match, organised by Lee Payling at Peg One Angling Centre, raised more than £1,000 to buy a special bike for Shannon Langton. There was enough left over to make a donation to McMillan nurses.

Dave Madin made no mistake on the fancied Borehole peg to win the Gateford Angling Supplies Fun League. He weighed 126-4 made up of 20 carp to 10lb on meat over pellet.

Madin shares the lead overall after four rounds with Derby's Charlie Shaw on 28 points. Shaw is having a great season and chalked up five straight wins at Blythe Waters.

Shaw, who usually fishes the Method and meat, weighed 97lb, 121lb, 131lb, 158lb and a venue record 167lb.

Paul Yates won the 38-peg Open at Lakeview with 67-10 on maggot at Lagoon 9.

Local tackle dealer Gerry Woodcock was second with 57-10 on maggot and worm at Stream 3.
