A post-mortem examination at Walthamstow Mortuary revealed Mr Orrey died of multiple injuries.
An inquest was opened and adjourned at Walthamstow coroner's court earlier today.
Detective Sergeant Mark Robson, leading the investigation, said police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or events leading up to it to come forward.
"I am keen to speak to anyone who saw a silver Peugeot 206 being driven between Gainsborough Road and Bushwood shortly after the collision.
"The vehicle would have sustained noticeable damage to the front following the collision. We believe the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot over Wanstead Flats after abandoning the car."
A Met spokesman added: "Officers from the Road Death Investigation Unit are investigating and appeal for anyone with information to contact them on 0208 597 4874 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
