A COMMUNITY centre is set to get a new lease of life after it was sold at auction.

The Red Lion Community Centre, in Coventry Road, Bulwell, has been unused since last year when Bulwell Riverside, a £23 million centre which offers community services including a GP surgery, library, café, play centre and garden, sports hall and a recording studio, was completed.

City council deputy leader Councillor Graham Chapman said: "Nottingham City Council is pleased to have sold this important community facility in Bulwell, meaning it will now take on a new purpose which will be of clear benefit to the local community."

The council has now completed the sale of the property and the buyer is looking for a tenant. Interest has been shown by community groups and a training provider, while other accommodation could attract a nursery tenant.
