A TWELFTH food bank is set to open in Nottingham by Christmas, at a location which is yet to be confirmed in Radford.

The other 11 food banks cover Arnold, Bestwood, Clifton, Long Eaton, NG7, Aspley, Sneinton, St Ann's, Broxtowe estate, Beeston, and Inham Nook.

The Radford food bank will be set up by Muslim organisation Himmah.

Himmah is a social justice organisation founded by the mosques in Nottingham, which already runs a soup kitchen in St Ann's.

Sajid Mohammed, one of the's trustees, said the new food bank was due to open in about a fortnight.

He said: "We aim to help people in need in our society. There are clearly high levels of deprivation in Radford and we could see a food bank is needed, as the area doesn't have one yet.

"We hope to be up and running soon and helping people who need support."
